چکیده

The cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB1) Psylliodes chrysocephala Linnaeus is the most important pest of oilseed rape (Brassica napus) crops in Europe. Control has become more difficult since European Union ban 2013 on use neonicotinoid seed treatments. This situation made challenging by development resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, only remaining conventional synthetic insecticides with which control CSFB. purpose this paper review potential biological alternatives pesticides for Only a small number studies have investigated agents against CSFB itself. More research has, however, been published two other, closely related chrysomelid pests brassica that similar life cycles, namely crucifer Phyllotreta cruciferae and striped striolata, enable us extrapolate reasonably across include entomopathogenic fungi (EPF2) such as Metarhizium anisopliae Beauveria bassiana, nematodes (EPN3) Steinernema feltiae carpocapsae, parasitoids Microctonus brassicae predators ground Trechus quadristriatus. Results vary depending setting (laboratory versus field), but several resulted mortality greater than 50% under laboratory conditions. shows viable alternative insecticides. Nonetheless, many gaps remain, current focused largely beetle, comparatively few investigating controls date limited species EPN EPF little work predators. field using are required, while contrast underrepresented EPN. Further testing existing new strains nematodes, exploring endophytic fungi, enhancing formulation application inundative strategies, conservation control. Effective should ultimately be combined cultural methods Integrated Pest Management (IPM4) systems sustainable management pest.

Plant defence responses in oilseed rape MINELESS plants after attack by the cabbage moth Mamestra brassicae

The Brassicaceae family is characterized by a unique defence mechanism known as the 'glucosinolate-myrosinase' system. When insect herbivores attack plant tissues, glucosinolates are hydrolysed by the enzyme myrosinase (EC 3.2.1.147) into a variety of degradation products, which can deter further herbivory. This process has been described as 'the mustard oil bomb'. Additionally, insect damage i...

Seed dressings to control slug damage in oilseed rape.

Slugs are major pests of oilseed rape that are poorly controlled by conventional bait pellets. A series of laboratory experiments investigated the potential of seed-dressings to control slug damage in this crop. Four compounds: metaldehyde, methiocarb, cinnamamide and 3,5-dimethoxycinnamic acid (DMCA) were tested at a range of doses for phytotoxicity and ability to reduce damage by Deroceras re...

Characterization of the pollen beetle, Brassicogethes aeneus, dispersal from woodlands to winter oilseed rape fields

Many crop pests rely on resources out of crop fields; understanding how they colonize the fields is an important factor to develop integrated pest management. In particular, the time of crop colonization and damage severity might be determined by pest movements between fields and non-crop areas. Notably, the pollen beetle, Brassicogethes aeneus, previously named Meligethes aeneus, one of the mo...
